Äppelgården is a B&B located in the beautiful Swedish countryside just outside of Mariestad. The historic farmhouse is designed by renowned Swedish architect Löfven Skiold and was build in 1892 The farm is decorated with antique furniture and accessories. We serve an ecological homemade breakfast, all products come from our garden and from local farms in the surroundings.

My main goal is to let people relax. The surroundings of Äppelgården are very quiet, even though we are only 5 minutes from town. All you see around here are meadows and the forrest. Inside the house you can cuddle up near one of the kakelungs (traditional Swedish fireplaces) and read a book or enjoy a glass of wine. Outside you can take a walk in the forest or sit in the garden, enjoy the sun and the sound of the birds.

The closest neighbors are the cows in the meadow, the deer in the forrest and the birds in the trees. Äppelgården is located in the countryside, but still only 5 minutes away from Mariestad en 20 minutes from Skövde. The Vänern lake is only 10 minutes away by car. My favorite place however is at another lake, where a beaver family build their 'house' and where you can admire their 'work' mirrored by the trees they cut down. A unique and very quiet place! Another tip we give our guests is to take a ride along the most beautiful road of Sweden, where you drive by small pitoresque villages, forests, lakes and on the way stop by the little shops and cafe's. Or enjoy picking your own strawberries at the farms along the way!
