The apartment is located on the borders of the Baixa and the Alfama districts. Ideally situated to explore Lisbon and its array of tourist attractions. The heart of Lisbon is arguably Baixa—the downtown district characterized by grand buildings, historical landmarks and the unique 18th century Pombaline architecture memorialising the city’s reconstruction after the devastating Earthquake of 1755. With Rossio located right next door, these two neighborhoods make up Lisbon’s lower city. Much of Lisbon’s heritage is condensed into the wonderfully preserved sights of culturally rich and charming Alfama, where guests can notice some traces of both the Arabic influence and Lisbon’s fishing past. Alfama’s narrow alleys and small squares invite you to explore its hidden corners, unique fish smells, the sounds of Fado, and fresh laundry hanging out of the windows – all of these create a friendly local community of people.
