Quinta Rio de Olivera is a green and peaceful oasis in the foothills of the Serra da Estrela, a fully organic haven for native wildlife and plants. Our two studio holiday apartments are comfortable and well-appointed, both with ensuite bathroom and fully equipped kitchen - everything you need for the perfect holiday. Families or larger groups can also rent an adjacent bedroom with 2 extra beds, if required. The apartments have free & fast wifi, cable TV, a bbq and private sun terraces & central heating for cooler periods. Guests have use of a private, heated swimming pool, with sun loungers and a pool-side bar. There's a children's play-park and 4.5ha of safe meadows and woodlands to explore and play. Guests can use the laundry room on request. Well-behaved dogs are welcome for a small additional cleaning charge, and parking is free. Both apartments are fully accessible to wheelchair users.
We are Tania and Johnny, an English, vegan couple who have lived in Portugal since 2020. We are passionate about nature, animals and wildlife - we live with our three dogs, Grace, Dave and Bella, and several cats. We will do our very best to ensure that your stay here is as relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable as possible. If you have any special needs or requests, please just let us know.
Quinta Rio de Olivera is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Serra da Estrela, Portugal's principle national park and highest mountains; here you can find real wilderness, with endless hiking and cycling trails, waterfalls to explore, cool mountain lakes to swim in, and even a small ski resort in the winter. Closer to home, the Quinta is just a 5 minute walk from a sleepy little village which boasts a lovely bar and vegan-friendly restaurant. The nearest shops and supermarkets are in Tábua and Olivera do Hospital, each just a 15 minute drive away, where you will find all the usual amenities. The Quinta is surrounded by beautiful green hills and valleys, with dozens of footpaths and trails to explore, and many rivers and river beaches for swimming and kayaking. The lovely, historic city of Coimbra, a Unesco heritage site, is just one hour away.
