Alfama, considered the heart of Lisbon city, is one of the most genuine Lisbon’s neighborhoods. While walking through the cluttered and narrow streets of Alfama, you will feel in a small village and witness conversations between neighbors, listen Fado that echoes the stairs and still see the Tagus river in another dimension. In June (from 10 – 15 June) there is a typical and cultural festival – Santos Populares, that happens in many places in Lisbon but the most important one is Alfama. During this week, the streets are full of people, the whole Alfama neighborhood smell grilled sardine, from its taverns and restaurants, mixed with basil. There is also sangria, wine and ginginha. Cosy Alfama flat is near the famous viewpoint of the Portas do Sol, one of Viewpoints Top5 Lisbon.
