1991 marks the beginning of a very happy Portuguese-German relationship that started in Berlin during our three-year training to become travel agents. After successfully completing the training, we spent several years gaining valuable experience at specialist travel agencies in Berlin and Lisbon. Eight years later, we took one of our Lisbon friends up on his offer to buy his apartment in Lapa. Having renovated as well as having carefully decorated and furnished the apartment, we regularly spent the winter months in Lisbon with our young daughter. During this time, we developed a keen interest in historic building features, design objects and the restoration of antiques. This became a tremendous success giving us the opportunity to turn what we love into a profitable business. We have been offering our lovingly restored and furnished apartments to our guests since January 2007 – with excellent feedback. This cosy and beautifully decorated Aurora apartment is located in a completely restored 18th century old town house in the heart of beautiful Alfama old town quarter. The apartment consists of an open space area with a quality kitchen, a big double bed and elegant living room. All furnishings are of high quality like the Philippe Starck chairs, the leather sofa and original design lamps from the sixties. We are glad that we could conserve all the original baroque wand tiles from the 18th century. Next to the kitchen there is a nice bathroom with a big shower. A staircase leads you to the apartment on a 2nd floor. On the living room you can sleep also on a comfortable sofa bed. Note: There is no elevator in our old town house (2nd floor) and the stairs are steep. If you have mobility problems we would not recommend this property.

From the French balcony you have a nice view, if the leafs of the trees are not too thick, of the huge and fantastic Tagus estuary. You can enjoy a view to the harbour area with it's ocean liners and an old marbled baroque palace, today the museum of portuguese military history. The apartment has been completely renovated in 2017. In the famous Alfama quarter you have a very special and cosy atmosphere of traditional portuguese living. Lots of small and cosy restaurants and cafés invite you for a visit. You will find these charming and traditional grocery stores at every corner. The Alfama quarter is situated most centrally in the heart of Lisbon, below of the old castle Sao Jorge and in front of the Tagus estuary. From this central location you can enjoy most of Lisbon's unique sights on foot. The train and metro station Santa Apolonia and the tram stop are located within 3 minutes walking distance. We can recommend you also for a night visit the new harbour area. Just cross the street and you will see the old storehouses with international bars, design shops, Lisbon's best clubs and restaurants.
