The appartment is located in the Medieval village of Maranola. Its origin are linked to the need of the coastal inhabitants to move to a new settlement on the surrounding hills, to defend themselves against the incursions of Saracen . Maranola is mentioned for the first time in 1029 and again in 1045. The apartment has a quite large bedroom and a balcony. Its internal dominant colours are pastel green and ocra. The room in the middle has late 50's furnitures, a dressing table and a bed that can also be used as a sofa. The bathroom is basic but it has everything you need. The kitchen is large and has everything you need. There is no water shortage in the house. From the house's windows you have a wonderful view of the Aurunci mountains and of the countryside. In the village there are important historical sites such as old churches. In the church of Santa Maria of Martyrs old baroque decorations and frescoes are well preserved, a crib (nativity scene) dated sixteenth century, as well as a fine pipe organ of the eighteenth century . In the Church of S. Luca the rare frescoes of "Breast feeeding Madonna" can be seen. There are two restaurants in the village and two 'bars'.

An anthropologist by training but full time engaged in advocacy to sustain and support the struggle of indigenous communities, especially in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, which are being threatened by oil palm plantations, mining corporations and other top down development projects. He is friendly, hospitable, love nature, animals, writing, photography and trekking. He is the father of two 5 years old girl twins. This is exactly why the appartment has been named after them: "The Twins' Nest".

The neighborood is friendly. Keep in mind that the house is located in the middle of the old village, so there are no cars and no noice of any sort. You can completely relax and forget about the caos and smog of the big cities. There are a lot of interesting people in the village: some are master-wevers and make beautiful baskets, others produce local wooden artifacts, several make the traditional fresh goat cheese known as 'marzolina'. You'll always find friendly people, especially elders, who are willing to show you their know-how and traditional skills. If you come with your own car, there is a public parking area just outside the village, 3 minutes walking from the house. There are food shops, parlours for men and women, a smoke shop and a post office. Busses departs for Formia (4.5kms away) almost every hour. Formia is well connected by train to both the Cities of Napoli (South) and Roma. So you can take daily trips to such locations and get back in the evening to Formia. Both Roma and Napoli are fantastic cities in terms of art, history, archeological sites, museums, etc. About 11/12 kms from Maranola you have the beautiful town of Gaeta, a real jewelry along the sea.
