Sensational accommodation in a fabulous location. Many people stopped to look inside and were always impressed by the place. Great host who went over and above what was expected. Breakfast was more than adequate and well supplied. I can't fault this place. It is one of the most impressive we have stayed in. Top notch.

We offer seasonal fruit and a welcome cocktail giving you a unique atmosphere by candlelight. Located a few meters from the archaeological sites of interest such as Casa Cava, San Pietro Barisano and the Cathedral of Matera, Corte San Biagio will ensure privacy and comfort while remaining a short walk from the main square of Matera, the European capital of Culture for the 2019. My name is Carlo and I am 33 years old. After having spent more than 13 years living and working between Taiwan, Brussels and Madrid, I decided to return to Matera, my hometown. I am a communicative person, helpful, serious and always joyful to meet new and interesting people. I speak English, Spanish and a little bit of French and Chinese. I like nature, I know the main tourist routes and I love take long walks through the typical alleys of the Sassi, which offer a unique spectacle in the world.
Corte San Biagio is situated very closed to Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the main historical museums. Guests can visit Casa Cava, a stunning cultural center housed in what was for more than 200 years a quarry, entirely carved by hand. On the other side of the terrace, stands the bell tower of San Pietro Barisano. Do not miss the chance to relax, having breakfast with the wonderful view of the bell overlooking the Gravina and the Cathedral of Matera. A shuttle service, bike rental and tour desk are also available. You can take guided tours of the sassi and visit historic reconstructions of cave life. Matera was the one of the filming locations for Mel Gibson's film The Passion of the Christ, with shots showing the sassi and the gorge below. Matera Train Station is only 1 km away, and the property is 50 km from the Ionian Sea. Karol Wojtyła airport, also known as Palese Airport, is situated in Bari, around 40 miles away from Matera. There is a private railway line connecting Bari with Matera as well as local buses and the scenic journey takes around an hour and a half. "Sassi" is considered World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1993, along with the Park of the Rupestrian Churches.
