In particular, the historical market of the Cape is a place of great charm: located in a very popular district, it was formed in the Muslim age, beyond the course of the Papireto, and was inhabited by Schiavoni, pirate slave traders. One of the main entrances is that of Porta Carini, near which is the Palace of Justice. The vendors create that music capable of penetrating with deafening cantilena in the Palermo dialect (abbanniare), inviting them to buy their goods. Basically, the market has always been a particular place for the sale of meat and fish. The colorful fish lying on the ice floes is lovingly brought together, illuminated by large lamps and continuously wet to enhance its organoleptic qualities, but large fish are the ones that count: tuna and swordfish.
