The palace is located only a few steps from Palermo’s main street, Via Roma, but despite that you are here surrounded by calm, silence and stillness. More central than this you cannot live, and yet without the drawbacks it normally means to live centrally in a big city. The Palace dates back to the sixteen century. It was then acquired in the eighteen century by the Lampedusa Family. In a book, Prince Tomasi Di Lampedusa describes meticulously the Palace, which he most intimately calls “La mia casa”. Describing it before he died, Lampedusa said: “In no other place on earth is the sky so violently blue as it is from our terrace, I'm sure of it”. The apartment is situated in a wing that survived the bombing of the Second World War; the sixteen century domed ceilings and arches are preserved in the original design. The apartment is about 110 sqm and is distributed over a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. It has central heating. Across the courtyards you can enjoy a quite walk, read a book or see your children playing in absolute security. It a magical spot inspired by history, beauty and literature, that one of our guests described as a “gem in the old citadel of Palermo”.

Tomasi Di Lampedusa was a Sicilian prince who lived between 1896 and 1957. He was a great lover of art and literature, and the author of the famous book The Leopard, which depicts the dissolution of the feudal society, the changes for the nobility and of Sicily during the unification of Italy. A film adaptation of the book, directed by Luchino Visconti, won the Palme d'Or in 1963. The Palace was badly damaged during the bombing of the Second World War but, thanks to the accurate memories of Tomasi Di Lampedusa, it undertook a complete restoration in 2011, preserving the original features of the building and most of its details. It re-opened in 2016 and this masterful restoration was featured in Italian, local and international newspapers, TV outlets as well as journals of architecture and design. The beautiful palace preserves the original form and dignified design. A lot of attention is paid also to the peaceful inner courtyards, with their marvelous arks, pillars and large green spaces. Of the city’s noise you will hear nothing, only piece and stillness.

The Palace is near the Whithaker Palace, and an ancient arabic settlement. Our House is at the center of many historic and cultural sites, and especially near the ancient port of Normans.
