Arà is an antique massaria (farm), completely restored using traditional Sicilian materials and enhancing the original beauty of the stone structure, you can enjoy the authentic countryside of Modica and even push the look as far as the wonderful Mediterranean Sea; you can also relax reading a book in the shadow of almond and carob trees and surrounded by the smell of blossoms, and have fun playing bowls in the garden or playing with the games available inside the relax room. Beautiful walks along the paths in the surrounding countryside will make you feel completely restored in body and mind, and kids will surely have great fun with our games, our playground and our little zoo, for a dream holiday in nature. By visiting Arà you will plunge into a renewed but genuine “sicilianity”, which is the spirit that permeates our rooms and that you can experience especially in the relax room. There you’ll be able to admire a precious collections of antiques depicting local rural life, of books retracing our history, and of colors that taste of Sicily.
Arà is located in a strategic place for those who wish to truly live the territory of the former County of Modica! In the traditionally farming-reliant locality of Nacalino, you’ll be halfway between the stunning baroque town center of Modica and the wonderful seaside of Marina di Modica. It will take just a few minutes to reach both these charming places by car, so you’ll be able to choose a new adventure everyday. Arà is even pretty close (10 minutes by car) to the town’s modern commercial area, with its many shops and – for those who want to extend their sightseeing beyond Modica– it’ll take just 30 minutes by car to reach the charming baroque towns of Scicli, Ragusa Ibla, Ispica, and the lively seaside villages of Sampieri and Pozzallo. We’re right in the region of the Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto, wonderful towns, including Modica, which were included by UNESCO in the World Heritage List.
