The district of Ampelokipoi is situated at the northeastern of Athens and is one of the most populated. The only two skyscrapers of Athens are located here. Historically it has been inhabited since 1880 and it was filled with streams and fields, while in the decades of 1960s and the 1970s it met with a reconstruction. Nowadays the area is chosen by many university students, it is near the commercial triangle and has a lot of bars, cafes and restaurants. Not far at all, you will find LYCABETTUS HILL, the highest point of Athens, rising 277 meters above the city. You can reach it taking the funicular at Ploutarchou street (Evangelismos Metro Station).
