This is a beautiful little cottage in the heart of whitstable. The cottage feels really homely and is very well looked after. We loved spending time in the green garden which is peaceful and secluded. We also enjoyed John’s CD collection and taking life at a quieter pace while staying here. John is a lovely host - taking care to show you round the property and supplying a delicious breakfast for your stay (eggs, fresh bread, coffee, milk and fruits). This place has everything you need and is a stones throw from everything whitstable has to offer. Would highly recommend.

The Whitstable Tree House Retreat For Artful Ambience is so named as it reflect's the Original Intention of the previous Owner Jan Leyen-Decker who very much enjoyed the Connection the House Had with the Garden both inside and outside of the House.The House Itself Contains selected Driftwood pieces and also Artworks made from Found objects and Driftwood from Whitstable Beaches.The Atmosphere in the House Cultivated by Jan is also very tranquil and lends itself to the idea of a Retreat.It is also a house full of Creativity,hand made objects and works of Art.Both by Jan and also myself as i am an Artist/painter.I have aimed at maintaining the spirit of Jan's concept to use the House for being able to rest,reflect and rejuvenate.There are original and Modern aspects to the house but most of these were part of Jan's vision for Simplifying how she lived and nurturing Nature,Light and creativity under one roof and Garden.
As i mentioned,I am an artist and I have a studio local to the Tree House.You might like to visit me there during your stay.I spend my time painting and printmaking when i am not preparing the house for Gust's to stay in.I also work with a disabled friend on one day per week and we do interesting cultural activities mainly like visiting art Show's ,going to see Film's or even Bands on occasion.My other passion is to play Cricket which i do in the Summer months.Playing for Whitstable and also Kent Over 50's Side.So i have a full and active life and I also like to travel and explore other places when i can with my wife Margie.
The Tree House Retreat is situated in a small Terraced Street in the Heart of Whitstable.Near to all of the aminities and Shops which Whitstable is known for.Especially in Harbour Street which boast's a large number of popular Restaurants and Hostelries and also VC Jones the popular Fish and Chip Shop.The whitstable Beaches are also a stones throw from the house literally as is the Harbour which still has a working fleet of fishing vessels along with a working factory which all gives a distinctive character and life to the harbour area.Along with the Fish Market and Crab&Winkle Restaurant above ,this overlooks the harbour itself.There are many good Seafront walks to be enjoyed as well as opportunities for water sport activities like Sailing,Canoeing and windsurfing.Public Transport link are also good if you like to visit a number of other interesting Towns and resort's in East Kent such as Margate,Canterbury,Broadstairs,Folkestone and Ramsgate.All accessible easily by either train or Bus routes as well as car if preferred.There are also cycle paths which are easily accessed too such as the crab&Winkle way which is a 7 mile path and former Railway Line servicing the Canterbury area
