Twiga House - the name 'twiga' means giraffe in Swahili. Having spent 15 years in South Africa we moved back to the UK in 2014 and our rather large metal giraffe came with us and now resides in the front garden. Although the property was not a B and B when we purchased it - the layout was perfect. We have four bedrooms upstairs for our guests - 2 king rooms with ensuite and a Family suite which has 2 double bedrooms and an ensuite full bathroom. Our private accommodation is downstairs so hopefully guests feel that they have their privacy and not intruding in our home. We have created a lovely area outside for guests to sit and have tea in the afternoon or wine in the evening - of course this is weather dependant!! There is ample parking for 3 cars at the front of the house, thus avoiding on street parking.
I'm very keen on the 'great outdoors' so living in this beautiful area is perfect for hiking, cycling, riding etc. We're members of the National Trust and both now enjoy visits to the various historic buildings and gardens throughout Dorset. Alan plays golf when he can and I'm permanently in the process of 'having lessons' - maybe 2016 will be the year that I progress to an actual golf course!! During the winter months we go in search of warmer weather and have just returned from an extended trip to Sri Lanka, Namibia and South Africa.
Wareham is a very pretty medieval market town - surrounded by old walls and steeped in history. The river which runs through it adds to the ambience of the town. The area around the quay has a weekly market , with plenty of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. In season there are numerous boats for rental and river trips as far as Poole harbour. Twiga House is located 5 minutes from Wareham forest which is perfect for walking and cycling. The mainline railway station to London Waterloo is also only a five minute walk, with 2 trains hourly to and from London. Should you wish to com
