A fabulous stay in a very well appointed property. The hosts have made the very most of the space in this cosy, comfortable shepherd's hut, and the welcome fruit and beverages were very much appreciated. We were even given some delicious vegetables from their allotment! There is also plenty of space around the hut, which felt very private, and we loved our early morning walks along the beach, when we were lucky enough to see seals and (we think) a white tailed eagle. The location is fantastic - beautiful views across the water, and well placed to explore the beautiful islands of Lewis and Harris. This really is a very special property and we would love to visit again.

IsleBebytheSea, a property with free WiFi facilities, is situated in central Lewis and Harris. This chalet with sea views features 1 bathroom with a shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a single electric hob plate, a combi microwave, fridge with ice box, toaster, as well as kettle. There is 1 double bed and a snug(for reading and relaxing). Please note this is on a primarily working croft land, used for grazing in the off season when we close the hut to guests. It is only suitable for guest who enjoy this type of location. Guests can also relax in the garden. The nearest airport is Stornoway Airport, 19 km from the chalet.

*PLEASE NOTE THIS LISTING IS FOR ACCOMMODATION ONLY* See our website for hot tub availability. IsleBebytheSea is a beautiful, custom built Shepherd Hut type cabin, in a stunning coastal location. The hut is decorated with a traditional Hebridean theme using local timber and tweed. It has a unique & vintage style. The hut is an open plan, the bed is a full size double. There is an upper bunk set up as a snug for reading and relaxing, with a short ladder to access it. the mattress is pocket sprung and bed covers are 100% cotton. We accept 2 guests maximum. The kitchenette is bespoke & equipped with a single hob plate, fridge with icebox, a combi microwave, a baby butler sink, cookware and vintage crockery. It has a little, but fully equipped WC and shower room with electric shower. We had the hut custom built for the Outer Hebrides weather and it is very cosy. It offers privacy and amazing uninterrupted sea views. Mobile signal is weak but we offer free WIFI. NEW FOR 2023 - EV CHARGING UNIT (pay for use on departure.) We are not suitable for children unfortunately. Sorry, no pets. The hut has 2 steps to enter. There are horses, sheep, cows, dogs and cats nearby. NB. A shepherd hut is snug accommodation. Studio area is approx. 2.8 x 3.5 m excluding the W.C This type of accommodation is more glamping than renting a house, please ensure this is the correct type of accommodation fto suit your needs before booking.
I'm a born and bred Hebridean, love our Islands, the outdoors, animals, creative things, DIY, food and most things health & fitness. I’m also a bit of a heath geek; I have studied and have always worked in fitness, health and personal development my adult life. I work for myself now, offering various health coaching services & instruction, including online courses as Hebridean Health Coach. In my spare time I will usually be doing something outdoorsy; paddling around the shore in my kayak, out hiking in the hills with my dogs, or doing horsey stuff. Most days I'm in my wee gym, then cooking some yummy vegan food to refuel! Setting up IsleBebytheSea has been a dream of mine for a number of years, so I have put a lot of thought into getting it just right. I have finished the hut, as I would like to stay in it myself, making it as cosy and welcoming as I can, I’m really pleased with it, and hope you will love it too! I can’t wait for guests to come and sample IsleBebytheSea, and our whole Hebridean way of life here!! Please note, our barn cats are over friendly and have forgotten they were once feral.. So they will probably want to come and meet you and get a pat on the head! x
IsleBebytheSea sits in a rural location, within a crofting village in the North Lochs area of the Isle of Lewis. This area is central to Lewis & Harris; from the accommodation it is approx 15 min drive to Stornoway, & approx a 25 min drive till you're in Harris (45/50 min to Tarbert). The hut is located at the bottom of my garden on a working croft, opening onto the sea shore via a private foot access. You have your own back garden. The hut is 50 mtrs away from the road, on a main bus route offering services to Stornoway Mon-Sat. Our surroundings are hills and a seawater loch, ideal if you like hiking or if you are a kayaker. There is a beautiful little 10 min walk to a peninsula, via the shore, accessed directly from your accommodation. If IsleBebytheSea is your base for exploring Lewis & Harris, I’m sure you will be aware there are many scenic hike/drive routes & lots of outdoor activities offered throughout our Islands. We are close to the Hebridean Way – about 3 miles from the cycle route section. The local shop is 3 miles away; It is well stocked, serves hot food & sells fuel. The accommodation is fenced off, but be aware animals live and graze near IsleBebytheSea, and as is the same in all rural Hebridean areas, occasionally there are loose ones wandering about. STRICTLY NON SMOKING. NO CHILDREN IM AFRAID (we are primarily a working croft, so not suited to them.) NO PETS NO PARTIES.
