Set in the picturesque village of Troutbeck, this charming bed and breakfast provides individually decorated bedrooms, most of which have views of the surrounding Fells. All double bedrooms have an en-suite shower, our double suite has an en-suite bath and shower. All bedrooms also include TV, a DVD/CD player and tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfast is served in the dining room, which boasts countryside views; there are 2 restaurants in the village which serve lunches and evening meals. vegetarian breakfasts and special dietary requirements can be requested in advance. High Fold Guest House is less than 3 miles from Windermere and the Lakeshore, and approximately 4 miles from Ambleside.

High Fold Guest House is surrounded by green rolling hills and mountain peaks. The dining room must have one of the best breakfast views in the Lake District and all our bedrooms look out onto stunning scenery. There is ample free parking and free Wi-Fi. All our bedrooms are en-suite and have king size or super-king size beds. Our delicious, generously portioned breakfast is made from locally sourced and produced ingredients wherever possible. Whether you come to High Fold for some energetic walking or cycling or simply for a peaceful, relaxing break, you may be assured of a warm, friendly welcome throughout your stay.
I moved here in August 2019 and absolutely love it. The area is breathtakingly beautiful, and the residents are really friendly, helpful and welcoming. The peaceful surroundings enable you to switch off and relax pretty much on arrival. The atmosphere in the guest house is easy going and homely. I am not a hardened hiker but regularly enjoy walking along the local paths and bridleways which are for all abilities and energy levels. For many of these walks or cycle rides, no car Is required, they are right on the doorstep. The previous owners very kindly wrote down detailed guides for several local walks which you can borrow and there are plenty of maps and guidebooks for you to peruse. There are also many leaflets giving details of local attractions and places to visit. I look forward to welcoming you soon to what is a truly special place. Jackie Cartigny
Windermere and Ambleside are each only 3.5 miles away so if you are looking for local shops and places to eat in addition to the two excellent local pubs within walking distance of the guest house, you don’t have far to go. Local taxi firms are readily available for those who don’t want to drive. Being centrally located, High Fold Guest House is ideally placed for guests travelling around the Lake District. Its rural location makes it particularly popular with walkers and cyclists, or those who simply wish to 'get away from it all' and sample peace and tranquility in beautiful surroundings. We are easy to locate being within 500 metres from the main A592 road between Windermere & Ambleside. Please note there are two villages in the Lake District called Troutbeck and sat Nav/GPS users are advised to input our post code LA23 1PG, rather than the village name.
