Forty Winks is a converted cart barn with an entrance hall with tea and coffe making facilities, a main bedroom / sitting room with Tv, a wet room with WC, wash basin and shower, a breakfast room with self serve breakfast bar and an additional single bed if required. Outside there is a covered seating area overlooking the field towards the railway line and nature reserve. There is a BBQ where if you wish you may cook a meal and dine al fresco subject to weather. Forty Winks has its own parking for cars and a cycle rack with cover for those cycling in the area. Your hosts are just 40 meters away in the main house and available at the push of a button. We have Wifi readily available outside and on good days inside Forty Winks with the aid of a booster.

Forty Winks sits in a conservation area on the edge of a site of The Southrepps Commons Local Nature Reserve compriseing of 12.4 hectares of woodland, reeds, sedges, grass and rare wild flowers, spreading over five sites in Lower Southrepps village. About half the reserve is a ‘Site of Special Scientific Interest’ and a ‘Special Area of Conservation’, providing home to an exceptionally wide range of habitats and species; botanists love it. There is an impressive 800 metre boardwalk threading its way through tall reeds and across two bridges, with wheelchair access to the most important parts of the site. Further afield there is the seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham and the popular North Norfolk Railway. To the south are the Norfolk Broads National Park. Forty winks is just a ten minute walk from Gunton Railway station on the Norwich, Wroxham, North Walsham, Cromer, Sheringham line and your car can be left at Forty Winks whilst you explore by Train, on foot or by bike. Just a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes by car is the Vernon arms where evening meals can be booked either by us or yourselves.
