The gite has a number of fully equipped self contained apartments in a 13th century building within the ancient village of Lagrasse. The rooms surround a lovely courtyard with large shaded areas, a lawn, swimming pool, sun loungers and communal facilities for eating and cooking al fresco, plus a kitchen with washing machine and dryer. We rented the Terrace which over looked the courtyard and, as the name implied, had it's own shaded outdoor area . Perfect.

We are a couple that originated from Cornwall, where we both grew up in the holiday industry. After careers in the marine industry, super-yachts and economic regeneration we have found our little piece of paradise here in Lagrasse. After a 5 year and 600 ton renovation, the secrets of the property have been revealed, providing some of the most amazing architecture, sculptures and paintings from the Cathar period, supplying plenty of things to see and talk about over a cold glass.

The House is nearly a thousand years old. It has a unique past and ongoing story that seems to build with every room. To much to tell, so briefly, Sculptures of the chief knight for the Abbey of Lagrasse, paintings of the battles dating back to the 13th century. The first 26 paintings have been restored with some on display at the village 'Maison de Patrimone.' 15 arches uncovered with the the last 13th century arch finally in situ in the early part of 2014 completing a loving renovation of an immensely historic house. Sculptures dotted throughout the property. Why not come and see for yourself and join us for one of our legendary BBQs.

With consistent temperatures in the mid to late 20's from May to September this part of Southern France has something to offer everyone. Lagrasse is situated just 30 minutes drive from Carcassone a World Heritage Site and 40 minutes from Narbonne and the coast. Lagrasse has something for everyone - bars, restaurants, local artisan shops, supermarket and a boulangerie. Throughout the year you will find many events are held including live bands, classical concerts such as En Blanc et Noir. During July an internationally renowned music festival is held that engulfs the entire village. Bastille Day is held on the 14th July and in August there is an international 'Banquet du Livres.' A two minute stroll into the village will bring you to the tennis courts, football pitch, play area and boules pitch. There is the pretty beach ont he banks of the river Orbieu which runs through Lagrasse. The Canal du Midi is close by, a tranquil boat trip is a must. There are many Cathar castles to explore, 2 fun Aqua Parks are located within an hour an O2 Adventure Park & an African safari Park. All these lively and fun things will ensure a typically French atmosphere is found!
