Forget about an impersonal hotel room – my charming, shabby-chic apartments in the heart of the Medieval city of Sarlat offer you everything you might need whilst exploring all that the beautiful Perigord Noir has to offer. My apartments sit on the ground and first floor of a characterful ‘immeuble‘, (originally a bakery with the bakers` accommodation above) in a tranquil courtyard set back from a pretty cobbled street, a focal point for local artists and artisans, and only a few steps from the central Town Hall square. Ideal for a couple, and only recently available to rent privately, I have taken great care to create a peaceful retreat, where you can recharge your batteries during your stay in my simple, but stylish one bedroomed ‘pied-a-terre’. With quintessential French furnishings, there is a little bit of history in each of the two rooms. You enter into the salon where you will find a fully equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing breakfast. The salon comprises a comfortable two seater settee and antique day bed/or armachir where you can take in the pretty view of greenery or enjoy a relaxing evening watching a bit television after a day of sight-seeing.

My family has always had a passion for the old yellow stone houses found throughout this region and I have now joined them in the loving restoration of these wonderful dilapidated buildings, and sourcing neglected pieces of furniture, and bringing them back to life. This apartment is my most recent project, encapsulating my philosophy of recapturing a little bit of history, and bringing it into the Modern World: of learning from the past to enhance the future, so that we get to enjoy the best of everything! Sarlat-La-Canéda rests in the world-famous Dordogne department and at the heart of the Perigord Noir region. This stunning area of France is renowned for its prehistoric caves and paintings and gastronomical delicacies of black truffles, foie gras and walnuts, where the Valley of the Dordogne meanders through, dotted with chateaux and picturesque hilltop Bastide villages boasting legends of the Knights Templar and Pilgrimages of Compostelle. There is no other region in France which can boast of such a variety of natural beauty and adventure! The beautiful town of Sarlat-la-Canéda is made-up of a picturesque tangle of honey-coloured buildings, alleyways and secret squares. Boasting some of the region’s best-preserved medieval architecture, it’s a popular base for exploring the Dordogne and the Vézère Valleys. There is no wonder that it´s a favourite location for film directors. You´ll be staying in the heart of where it all happens! It is an animated town with the most famous weekly market of the region, antique fairs and local cultural and musical festivals. Sarlat is the emblem of the Perigord Noir.
