Perla (lower floor) and Maribel ( upper floor) are independent units situated in farming village Casa de La Seda, in the middle of beautiful Valle Gran Rey. They both enjoy spectacular views over palm, banana and fruit trees down to the sea. Perla has two bedrooms, comfortably furnished dining/living room with daybed sofa & large windows; country kitchen and bathroom with walk-ín shower room & an additional outside garden patio area with table & dining chairs. Maribel has one double bedroom with small balcony; country kitchen/diner; comfortable living room/library with bed settee, sofa, coffee tables & enormous windows opening to a French balcony overlooking spectacular views & an outside spiral staircase to a large roof terrace with sunbeds, sunshade, table and chairs. Both houses are tastefully and comfortably decorated and equipped, with enormous windows providing wonderful views across and down the valley. Each has TV and music system with Cd, radio, USB, Bluetooth and Line-in modes. The two properties have been awarded CETS (sustainable tourism) status because of our commitment to sustainable practice and promotion of the island's wonderful Garajonay National Park.

I love walking & am always happy to share information about the National Park & the island's many hiking paths. After over thirty years here, there are still some of the 600kms of walking trails I haven't done! As Canarian correspondent for various publications, I'm happy to share information about local history & culture. I built Perla & Maribel as our family house & am pleased to offer them now the family's grown as two separate, slightly quirky, comfortable bases for visitors. It's gratifying that guests apparently appreciate their special characteristics! Being part of the Charter for Sustainable Tourism is important to me in offering holiday accommodation. I wouldn't feel comfortable being involved in mass tourism, which often damages both local environments & cultures. La Gomera, luckily, enjoys a different kind of tourism, one which both appreciates & helps maintain the natural balance between us & the environment. I love it that guests come to enjoy the peace, great nature & walks, fresh food, sunshine & laid back lifestyle. I'm always happy to share my enthusiasm with them. Casa de La Seda is perfect if you enjoy peaceful, authentic surroundings, beautiful views & nature & want to walk without needing a car. Many of the valley's hiking trails start nearby, making this an ideal base for walkers, yet we're within sight & easy reach of the coast, where you can enjoy Valle Gran Rey's four very different beaches & lovely sunsets. Our neighbours are local people involved in daily, rural tasks like planting, irrigating & tending to crops & animals. You get the best of both worlds: sunbathing, swimming, water sports, whale watching & a good range of bars, restaurants & shops are a five minute drive, or half hour walk down the valley from the peaceful village. Or you can enjoy the small, local bar/ restaurant run by Federico serving good, homecooked local cuisine and Canarian wine, just a five minute stroll away. Public buses run past the house two or three times a day, providing access up to National Park walks, as well as down to the coast. Free public parking is available close to the house. The picturesque church of Los Reyes, with its peaceful square and views, is a short walk across the valley on the old path below the house.
