Please be aware that the Albaicin is labyrinth like and the pavement is challenging, do wear sensible shoes and a backpack. Suitcases on wheels may not survive. It is not possible to park your car in front of the house. You will have the downstairs appartment available to you. It has 1 bedroom with a double bed and in the living room there is a sofa bed suitable for 2 young children or 1 young adult. (Please do not reserve for 4 adults as our place is too small for 4 adults) There is airconditioning (cold/warm air) in the living room, there is a gas heater, an electric stove, an electric underblanket and other blankets to leave you cosy and warm in winter. In summer the apartment stays nice and cool most of the time, unless there is a really long heatwave, that's when the airco comes in handy, we also have 2 fans. The shower works with an electric heater so it will need time to heat up again after one has taken a shower. We have towels, shampoo, toilet paper, and other amenities in the bathroom for you, if you need anything, let us know and we will try and provide you with the desired item(s). In the kitchen there is an electric stove, micro wave etc.

Hi there, We are a family of 4 plus cat, living in the Albaicin for quite some time now. We have been living in our current home for about 4 years, we love this old house, although it does need continuous maintenance. The virgin (tile portrait), which hangs, in the patio shines her light whenever she feels like it, although she has got 4 lamps with 4 perfectly fine light bulbs who are wired to the electric network and therefore should be lit up continously, she does not. We do not question this, things just are the way they are. That nicely sums up Spain for you as well, or at least this part of the country. So yes, we like a bit of mystery, charm and prefer that above practical things like being able to unload groceries in front of the door, we just have to walk a bit further, but that also means that there are no cars passing your window, so... and there is at least 1 supermarket that does deliver to our door, so things are not so bad. We work from home and outside our home as well, most people here don't have steady jobs, just a few jobs combined which will get them to the end of the month. We have a list waiting for you with our favourite places, but explore and let us know.

Little supermarkets and shops for your basic needs are right around the corner from our place. Shops tend to be open from 10:00-14:00 and 18:00-20:00. Every shop has it's own time table and even when it is written on the door, it may not always be open on the times stated. Bakeries are open on sundays. We do not provide breakfast as there are plenty of bars to get a nice and cheap breakfast such as "LLeváte Café" in Calle Aguas or have some churros in the café "La esquinita" en Calle Pagés or at "Casa de los pasteles" on Plaza Larga. If you want to sit on a terrace then Café Aixa on Plaza Larga is for you. There is a flamenco restaurant just a 2 minute walk from our place where you can enjoy a show and dinner. There is a bar in our street called "El Higo" which has a lovely patio, they open in the afternoon/evening and have free live music, usually in the summer. After 20:00 you will get free food when you order a drink in almost any place, unless it is an expensive restaurant or a cocktail bar you are in. This free food is called "tapas" and may be enough to sustain you until the next day, so don't order anything from the menu if the tapa still needs to be served!
